“When you attain the control of the internal direction of your attention, you will no longer stand in shallow water but will launch out into the deep of life.”
~ Neville Goddard
This is the core reason behind all the meditation practices in the ancient teachings. We’ve got to get control of the monkey mind so we can steer properly. We don’t want those monkeys at the helm of our ship! Practice makes perfect. Many of the ancient spiritual practices were toward this aim of being able to focus one’s thoughts. We truly realize why when we discover that mastering our thoughts means mastering our attention, and mastering our attention means we can manifest desired experiences on purpose. The other choice is to allow the subconscious mind to run amok, bringing us representations of whatever is going on in there from eons of conditioning. Yikes! Better to get to manifesting on purpose, for loving purposes, with high integrity.
